"One of the best restaurants in NYC, this Union Square star has already proven itself at the top of the culinary crowd. But what defines USC is it's non-pretentious and solid service, selection, and preparation. Even the decor exudes the understated confidence, lacking all the latest NYC interior decorating motifs and instead opting for a more lighted, open, and airy atmosphere. For this quality you'd expect to pay a lot more, but USC has managed to offer its experience at a relative bargin to other restaurants of this quality. The food isn't exotic or overly creative, but the use of seasonal ingredients and the focus on consistent quality underscores the appeal of a restaurant like USC. Don't expect to be blown away by the place, but rest assured, they wouldn't want it that way either." - tk
