"I moved from New york at a young age. When I go back this is only one of two restaraunts I desire to go. Vinny and Ida make you feel like family and the menu is excellant. Fresh dishes daily. " - re posted Monday, June 13, 2005
"One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Don't bother with the menu. Ask one of the Cerbone brothers what Ida suggests, and let her cook for you. The wine list is a marvel: there are things here you will see nowhere else. No cheap wine, but if you can't afford the good stuff you can get a carafe of house wine. They make their own olive oil from their place in Italy--it's spectacular. " - vl posted Saturday, June 26, 2004
"We Love Manducatis and go back again and again. The food is so fresh and delicious - glorified pizzeria? Hardly. While there is a fair amount of red sauce (really great red sauce)dishes on the menu there is plenty to choose from that is true traditional Italian fare that you will never get in a pizzeria - one of my favorite being any fish served Livornese style. However even if you feel compelled to get something that some others might call "glorified pizzeria" fare for example perhaps the Eggplant Rollatini it will be the best Eggplant Rollatini you ever had. I recent was making a reservation there around the time they will be closed for a month in the summertime, I asked why do they close for a month figuring the answer would be vacation or something like that. Instead the gentleman taking my reservation - the owners son - told me they close so they can do the canning for all the tomatoes they will use for the next year. Don't have an Italian Grandma to cook for you? Go to Manducatis!!!" - VF posted Monday, June 21, 2004
"A very homey place which has been in business since the mid 70s. One of the greatest and most reasonably priced Italian wine lists in the city." - GL posted Friday, September 5, 2003
"I really love Manducatis. The restaurant is run by a friendly family, the food is fresh, flavorful and reasonably priced (and not a "glorified pizzeria" as another reviewer said) and the desserts, especially the cannolis, are out of this world. They have an extensive wine list though wines tend to be pricey. Aside from the price of the wines though, it's great." - AP posted Thursday, May 17, 2001
"Glorified pizzeria food. Expect a ridiculously long wait between your appetizer and your entree. When your entree finally arrives, don't be surprised if it's cold and just mediocre in flavor. With all the fine Italian restaurants in NYC, I'd never go back." - TC posted Wednesday, May 24, 2000
