"A typical OVER-RATED restaurant!!! It¡¦s ¡§popular¡¨ because it¡¦s located in the prime location at Old Town Pasadena
Management never replied to the horrible incident yet after 3+ weeks, for questionable quality of raw fish on sushi, and attitude of arrogant waitress.
First, a waitress named Emily of Afloat Sushi wouldn't let my wife sit down at the sushi bar to start ordering when our party-of-two waiting number was called twice, it¡¦s all because I wasn¡¦t present with her at the time.
15 minutes later, I got the car parked, and went in the restaurant confronting with Emily, she gave us this horrible attitude and stating it was "Company Policy" to have ¡§ALL¡¨ dinners ON-SITE before seating¡Kand ¡§if we don¡¦t want to eat, don¡¦t block the entry way for their other customers!!!¡¨
Since it was late, and my wife was hungry, so we sat down at one of the tables, not on the sushi bar as we requested. We were later given sushi with fish not only looked bad, but also tasted weird! When bringing the issue to the attention to the upper management, again, the arrogant waitress ¡§Emily¡¨ said the owner is not there, she couldn't do anything about it, we can only call the owner's number on the wall if we want to complain, but she¡¦ll call the police if we want to cause ¡§ANY MORE¡¨ trouble for their business, and then she ignored us, went on doing her own stuffs leaving us and other guests stunted in shock toward her attitude!!!
I immediately called that number next to the entrance on the wall 626-379-2221, but got to a voice mail referring herself as Joanna indicating she's out of town, and offered to call her cousin David at 626-236-0213 if it is urgent; Once again, voice mail, I also left a message on David's voice mail stating the whole problem we had that night and hoping to get a response at it.
It was August 5, and today is the 30th!!! Still not a single phone call replying to our matter!!!
Ok, maybe Joanna is busy all these times, but our urgent calls to David were also ignored!!! What if we got sick by having those weird tasting raw fish at the restaurant? Who's going to be responsible?
Please bring a hidden video camera with voice recorder in there if you don¡¦t believe me, in case you also want to bring this to the attention of proper authorities.
Please let any friends and family who might go visit Aloat Sushi at Old Town Pasadena about my experience.
Please help the others by letting them know the truth and stop being victimized by these rude people!!!
Thank you for your time to look at my review!
God Bless You!" - GS posted Saturday, March 31, 2007
"A'Float Sushi sells because of its perceived novelty. This gloried conveyor belt concept is not new in Japan. The sushi is not the best and is overpriced. There are many places that offer extremely quality sushi for lower prices. You just have to be willing to try non-hypercommercialized shopping areas. Look for places with the fewest non-Asians. If the place has 90% non-Asians, you're being sold a lower grade of food." - jcp posted Monday, December 12, 2005
"If you're looking for some decent sushi (raw fish kind) at reasonable prices, this place is it. I know of better sushi places but they charge a lot more, and I know of worse places that charge just as much if not more than A'Float. May not be the top of the line, but you don't expect it from "floating" sushi place. You will definitely get your money's worth for sure. " - my posted Monday, June 13, 2005
"Great price, great food, great quality, good service." - dt posted Saturday, June 5, 2004
"This place is ok, but the service is sometimes quite scarce. When you're ready to go, don't wait for a waitperson to notice that you're just sitting there with your hands in your lap. Otherwise, mediocre food at a worth every penny price." - sk posted Monday, April 12, 2004
"a decent place for sushi. Dinner for two = 50 bucks (tips included)" - acl posted Thursday, April 8, 2004
"Good flavor susi, Poor attentive service. Price is good. Fun to pick what you want as you go. If you can get the chef's attention they do a good job on special orders." - eileen posted Thursday, June 26, 2003
"Between the rich and inventive sushi and the gimmicky plates on boats you pick out yourself, A'Float is always a real treat for me. I'm willing to look past the so-so service (getting a drink refill is hard), the illogical seating order (large parties are usually doomed even if there is space... they fill it with doubles!), and the occasional communication problems. The sushi is simply marvelous and a lot more extravagant than the usual fish and rice. I suggest coming a little early or a little late for fast seating. Expect to spend some time waiting for stuff you want to come along (or bug the chef to make it immediately ... that's not as fun though), especially since there's only so much room in your stomach and so many tastey things to try." - KI posted Friday, August 16, 2002
"Fun place at the east end of Old Towne Pas. Sushi made fresh and travel around an oval sushi bar by boat. You can also order directly from the sushi chefs. When it's not crowded, it's a fantastic place to drop by for a quick meal and be on your way. Sushi quality and prices are great. Also has tables and your traditional Japanese fare (udon, teriyaki)." - PL posted Tuesday, August 29, 2000
