"You have two hours to kill at the airport and you need a decent meal? Head north on Semoran Blvd. just a couple of miles to find this Peruvian gem tucked away in the Lake Fredrica shopping center. As the name implies, the menu features tasty rotisserie chicken, served with a side of french fries ($3.75 for a quarter of a chicken). But if you have more adventurous tastes, read on. This cuisine is a mixture of Spanish and native American, with a dash of oriental influence (from Peru's significant chinese and Japanese populations) thrown in. The papa rellena is hands down the best version of this dish ever: a fresh mashed potato croquette stuffed with savory ground meat filling and fried to crisp (not oily!) perfection. The $3.00 appetizer portion, with a relish of thinly sliced red onion marinated in lime, is nearly substantial enough to be a meal in itself. At $8.00, the chupa de camerones (shrimp bisque) IS a meal in a bowl, with plenty of plump fresh shrimp, rice, potato and a poached egg filling it out. Unusually for restaurant soup, Pollo Rico's version tastes like it was made by someone who knows what a bisque is. The menu lists a wide selection of beef dishes (including stir fry and lo mein), paella, ceviche (marinated seafood salads, with the raw seafood 'cooked' in citrus juice) and other seafood dishes. It even features Peruvian drinks, like Inca Cola (so popular in Peru that Coca Cola bought it out) and chicha morada (purple cider, similar to sweet Jamaican hibiscus drink). Lunch specials begin at $4.99. At these prices, why waste your time with bland overpriced airport food? Go to Pollo Rico instead! " - lj
