"The food is good, but service is the WORST I've ever experienced in a restaurant! I went there a total of five times and ALL five times, had a different waitress, same bad attitude! I was only visited by the waitress on our last visit 3 times - 1st time to ask what we were drinking and eating, 2nd time to drop off the food and 3rd to drop off the check! I had to flag down one of her cronies to get a refill on my water - boy did I irritate her, since I wasn't at HER station! It is unfortunate -they have good sushi and sashimi, but the s!*$&# service just brings it down...waaay down! Iwas so upset, that I left a penny for a tip! Even that was over-doing it on my part!" - JED

"I totally agree with JED. We have given this restaurant many chances over the last 3 or 4 years...but they just don't get it. I'll spare the horror stories of each individual visit...but here's a little list..* 1st attempt to order a drink...FINALLY she arrives with a tall glass filled with warm coke and rum (no ice?). Okey, how about a glass of cabernet. She FINALLY comes back to the table...holding a near empty bottle she asks if I still want a glass (although it won't be full)?!!!* We FINALLY get our order but our friend does not get his tempura dish. We eat VERY SLOWLY, try and try again to have someone deliver this poor man's dish. In absolute disgust we FINALLY just decide to pay the bill and leave. As we are paying we tell the owner of our problem. He tell us (I'm not kidding!)..I quote "You want good service you go to Beverly Hills!". I'm not making any sneer at one's ability to speak English...rather, his extremely RUDE manner. * We won't be back....and we certainly don't need to go to BH, there are plenty of restaurants here in the SGV that offer it's customer's a lovely meal and attentive service." - BP

"we went to the restaurant due to great reviews from our friends in the area. We were greeted 5 minutes after we arrived. The food took 35 minutes to get to our table. The server had no idea of his menu knowledge. The service was horrible and when we asked for a manager, he simply said he was sorry and have a good night. I understand the concept of having cheap sushi but does cheap sushi mean the most horrible experience ever??????????" - jhsu

"Okay, you're not going to believe this but something has happened in the last year. I, too, have experienced the WORST service here in the past. Exactly what all of you have described. However, in the last year I have been going repeatedly to find not only have they remodeled the restaurant but the service as well. The new look is a little too neon-gaudy but clean and neat. The servers are new and (dare I say,) friendly. They actually ask us repeatedly if we are doing fine and our food gets to us simultaneously. It's shocking, I know. My friends and I can't get over the extreme change. It's like another restaurant with the exact same sushi and sashimi. Actually, they've added a new gourmet, more expensive part, but they still have all of the old stuff for the same inexpensive price. I don't blame you if you don't believe me after what I've read here and been through myself I probably wouldn't believe me either. " - MR

"As I read some of the previous comments, I can not forget some of the experiences I had at this place, and wonder how they stay in business...it must be the low priced sushi, and the indiscriminant customers. We finally couldn't take the service anymore, no matter how much we liked the prices...The quality is actually average anyway.... " - 3133

"I have been in the Restaurant business for over 20 years, and I have to say the KABUKI is the WORST restaurant I have ever been in. My daughter had her meal in front of her for over 20 minutes (no exageration)before I got up and asked to see a Manager to find out why they couldn't seem to get my sushi to me sometime that same night! The young server had a real additude, and told me that everybody in the place was waiting for thier food too, like that was a good excuse. Since my daughter was now done with her meal, I told the Manager and waitress that we were just going to leave, and thanked them for ruining our entire evening. The next day, I got on the net to see if they had a web site so I could complain, and I find this site with everyone else agreeing on the TERRIBLE service! To everyone out there in Pasadena, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE avoid this crappy restaurant at all costs!! Being in the same business I can tell you there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for this kind of service(WHAT SERVICE??)Lets all not waste our time and hard earned money on this place." - NB

"Visited Kabuki for the first time recently. Nice, relaxed atmosphere...until woman in the booth diagonal from us decided to change her child's DIAPER in the booth!!! A loaded diaper, folks. She's talking and wiping and smiling with her husband (I guess under the impression that this is a natural occurrence). The waitress walked up to their table and I thought, "Good, she's going to say something to them." NOPE! She asks them if they'd like anything else, tells them what a cute baby they have! Dear Lord! So, if you ever find yourself in Kabuki, make sure you're not seated in the booth to the right of the hallway leading to the back office. But then again, if they allow diaper changing at the table you'd better beware of everything at Kabuki." - tdb

"Recently our whole family went to Kabuki to share a memorable lunch. What a mistake that was! My wife and I have been to Kabuki a couple of times previously, and although we did receive bad service and rude attitudes, we thought the better of it and decided to give it another try. All eight of us must have waited for a seat for what was approx. 40 min. Everytime we asked how much longer it would be, we kept getting told, "It will be 10 minutes." We were repeatedly told this. When we asked why we couldn't sit in the area where there were currently no patron, we were told that the section was "not open". Don't they want our business? The young lady at the desk was so indifferent and her attitude was deplorable. We decided to go elsewhere and went to Saladang instead - which we enjoyed very much. Shame on us for giving them another chance. We will never go to Kabuki restaurant again, and we will never recommend the place to anyone except our enemies." - TD

"The sushi is cheap but the service is horrible. I sat at the sushi bar thinking I could finish quickly. My waitress musta took a nap because I couldn't find her anywhere when it came time to leave. The patched together extension cords frizzed out on their credit card machine so I had to wait 15 minutes for them to give me the receipt to sign. And they ended up charging me twice. My one & only visit" - jw
