"Great food! Great atmosphere! Great mariachi band! If you can't afford $3.50 for valet parking, go to McDonald's. Not gourmet food like Cafe Pascale in Santa Fe, but this is a good experience. Service on our Friday night visit was superb." - tlk posted Monday, April 18, 2005
"I don't why people are complaining about the valet parking. I'd rather have my car parked in a secure area than on a city street in Pasadena where the overzealous parking enforcement agents will give me a $35 parking ticket! Get over that! Once inside the restaurant, I was amazed at the excellent service, great bar area, and even better yet, El Cholo's signature margaritas. The very best I have ever tasted. El Cholo's food has never disappointed, and there Taste of History plate for under $15 is quite possibly the best value I have had at any privately-owned Mexican restaurant chain. Move over Mexican restaurant pretenders, this El Cholo in Pasadena is for real!" - db posted Wednesday, March 30, 2005
"I didn't even get to try to the food. I had heard that El Cholo was a good place to eat (not necessarily the Pasadena location) but the restaraunt in general, however upon arriving there I was told that I had to do valet parking even though there was a parking space available directly in front of the restaraunt's front door. I though this to be absurd and after the valet guy told me that I had to do valet parking (no other option), I left. I think this is bad business and customers should not be forced to valet for this type of establishment. Needless to say they lost a customer over their parking policies." - lm posted Sunday, October 19, 2003
"Been a huge El Cholo fan since I was a kid and have been to both the original on Western in Los Angeles, and the newer branch in Santa Monica. Both of those, the food was excellent, however, the new Pasadena location is a mess. The service is almost non-existant, the amibiance is noisy and disorganized, the parking is horrendous but worst of all, the familiar flavors of the original chain are completely missing. I gave it 3 tries to improve and it just got worse and worse. Sadly,I've now sworn off the entire chain. Give it a pass." - KP posted Sunday, August 25, 2002
