"Always the best seafood in sf" - pbh posted Monday, May 17, 2004
"Terrible. This restaurant has turned into a tourist trap. The food is average, prices outrageous and service just awful. The last time we ate at Scoma's (which is the LAST time we will EVER eat at Scoma's, by the way) we had a waiter that was either a complete burnout or just a bad waiter. The crab sandwich we ordered was a joke--dry as a bone--and when we asked for more dressing, we were brought a tiny little portion of dressing. We had to ask for more bread, more coffee, a fork since it was left off of the table and we waited forever for our waiter to bring our check. Basically, we were ignored a good deal of the time. The atmosphere? Nothing to rave about. It does, however, have that feeling of yesterday. Too bad the food doesn't have the taste of the old Scoma's--when it was a good old San Francisco restaurant." - DD posted Sunday, April 18, 2004
"Look, you're missing the point about Scoma's. Ambiaunce of an older time (Including photos of many visiting celebrities) coupled with some of the best italian seafood dishes makes this place a must! Prawns are nice, but dive into a pot of the "Lazy Man's Chiopinno" on a cold city night sometime. For real hungry eaters, the "Diplimatico" combines a cornicopia of seafood flavors in a light cream sauce and pasta. Delicious! The service is top-notch, the cocktails are made the right way, the crab cakes are wonderful, and each table usually has a view of the warf. What's not to love?
