"Excellent Indian rest; we have tried 3 others in Pasadena, but will continue to go back to Akbar. The spice meter is accurate; we asked to have one special taken from a 2 to a 4 on the spice meter, and it was very spicey. Though not large portions, the food is excellent; only complaint is the temperature in the restaurant is very inconsistent (usually too cold, but it's been too hot other times also)." - mp

"Nice restaurant, impressive remodel from when the location was a mexican restaurant. The food was good, but different from all (20 or so) other Indian restaurants we have tried. Different in that the entrees were not very saucy or loose, leaving the basmati rice to seem very plain. Also, the "chile index" on the menu was quite exaggerated. We ordered something rated 4 on a scale of 1 to 5 and found it to be not really spicy at all. Good flavors still, and prices not bad but for a small chunk of extra change we'd rather go up the street 1/2 a block to Mezbaan, a fabulous Indian restaurant with strange (to me) decor, but excellent food and (recorded) music." - PB
