REVIEWS

"I came because the margaritas had been highly recommended; I left disappointed. Yes, the margaritas are strong, but not particularly flavorful. The chips are tough and boring. My fish tacos were very tasty, but the vegetables they came with were severely underdone. And the prices! Two fish tacos, with rice -- no beans! -- and vegetables, for over $14! The service was disappointing, too. I ordered two margaritas; each time I asked for them with salt, but they came with no salt. I was still working on my appetizer when my entrée was plunked down in front of me. The waiter never checked back at all; I practically had to trip him if I wanted anything. The mariachis were good, though. So the bottom line is, why bother? why not go to El Cholo, which is just blocks away, or Chevy's?" - DRH

"My wife loves the Margaritas and the Chef's Seafood Special. I always go for the Carnitas. On the weekends, we like the original location. But lucky for me a baby-Mijares is right down the block for those weekday dinners. " - EB

"I checked this site out and there were No reviews for Mijares.I have been eating here for 40 years. Most of the clientel have been doing the same. This is a great restaurant. For those who haven't been, GO. Paul McCartney and his new bride were there last April. Jennifer Aniston was just in for Margaritas and Chips and Salsa. And their Salsa, terrific! Is it happy hour yet? Mijares is the place to visit when you want Authentic Mexican Food. Food, Drink, Ambience!" - dm

"Mijares is the Mexican version of Cheers. Here, the locals rule. The bartenders are absolutelty the best. If you're a regular you are treated like a family member. Any dish that is not on the menu will be prepared for you if the ingredients are available. Possibly the best Margaritas in Southern California. If you like Tequila they have a modest variety of quality Tequilas such as Jose Cuevro Reserva de la Familia, Chinaco, Herradura, Lapiz, Don Julio, El Tesoro....The Sunday brunch is excellent. If you are looking for a party atmosphere this is the place." - dgh

"The food IS NOT authentic Mexican food. Not very tasty at all, but the atmosphere can compensate, and I have never had trouble getting a table for 15 people on Mother's day." - ie

"Menu here consists of two things that are halfway decent. They are: rice and beans. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, you'll not find it here." - DS

"If you are looking for your average, run of the mill Mexican cuisine with a big mark-up, this is the place for you. Food was very bland, service was slow and for basically rice and beans, $12 was a little too pricy." - MV

"i agree with MOB -- Mijares is the greatest place in town for Mexican food -- terrific service and a family-owned restaurant that really takes care of its customers. I should know, my family's been going there for three generations." - JB

"Absolutely the best margaritas and the best Mexican food in the LA area -- and they've been around for 80 years. Outdoor patios and the place to be seen Cinco de Mayo and other special events! I recommend the crab enchiladas and also the the carnitas. Hmmm! You'll probably see all your neighbors there, too!" - MOB
