The dinner dilemma.
When it comes to putting healthy, home-cooked meals on the table every day, the struggle is real! This was especially true for our founder, Dan - a busy single dad, who wanted better than frozen pizza and takeout for his two young boys.
A dad on a mission...
Dan looked everywhere to find an easy meal solution for him and his family - one that would offer fresh, nutritious dinners without any grocery shopping, prepping, cooking, and cleaning. That's when a chef friend showed Dan an old restaurant secret that would change everything.
Finally, he stumbled upon sous-vide, a decades-old method used in top restaurants to heat food to perfection while naturally locking in the vibrancy and nutrition. Not only would this new discovery solve dinner for Dan and his boys, but it would make it simple for everyone to enjoy the nutritional benefits of real food. And, so RealEats came to be.
Home is where the farms are.
The hunt for our headquarters landed us in Geneva, NY - right in the heart of the Finger Lakes agricultural region, where all the real food is. In the spring of 2017, we opened up our kitchen surrounded by small independent farms, from which we source much of the fresh seasonal ingredients you can find on our menu each week.
Supporting local comes full circle.
By creating local jobs in our community and buying the freshest ingredients from local farms, RealEats is making it simple for people to enjoy real food. Our local focus is helping to build a healthier and more sustainable food future, similar to what the American Preserving Company did more than a century ago - from the exact same location our kitchen occupies today.
